Wales

Rainy Wales

To be honest, we were looking forward for a trip to Wales so we could visit Snowdonia National Park.  Unfortunately, we were greeted by unrelenting rain. So we altered our plans and decided to visit Conway and the Conway Castle.  The medieval castle was built between 1277 and 1307 for Edward I.  The castle, along with neighboring monuments, is part of the Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd World Heritage Site. The castle is well preserved and offers views of the sea.

Apparently only Seattlites are brave enough to visit the castle in the rain.  We had the entire place to ourselves for nearly an hour.

At that point, we decided to search for someplace with a better preserved roof (or, any roof).  We made an obligatory walk past the “smallest house in Britain” and then took refuge from the rain in a cozy pub.
