Beyond Borders,  Switzerland

Back in Business

The few of you who actually read this blog have noticed that I have taken a long break from contributing.  I wish I had a significant reason for this absence, but the truth is that I do not: I was simply focused on other aspects of travel. Writing about our adventures began to feel more like an obligation, and that was the exact opposite of our intention for our time abroad.  But, now I am back!

Last weekend we watched my little brother compete in the Swiss National Athletics (Track & Field) Championships.  Sitting with family, watching my brother do something he loves was absolutely memorable.  And, witnessing him earn his TENTH national title for the hammer throw was icing on the cake.

This experience seemed to represent what we envisioned for our travels.  Sure, we wanted to visit new and exciting locations (check).  But, we also wanted to share moments like this one with family. Watching my nephew open presents on Christmas morning, walking my niece to school, and witnessing my newest niece take in the big world around her.  Moments that would never be possible by FaceTime across continents.

So, as we approach the year anniversary (September 10th) of beginning our travels, I am attempting to make more of an effort to capture these moments.
